WHO I THINK SHOULD BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT
I sat pondering through my clueless mind about the 2008 presidential election. What I gathered was that the democratic candidates that are currently running for president have very weak values in comparison to my own. In saying that, the republican party has taken my side and my vote. Of the republican candidates, I looked around and I thought, we need a candidate that has a track record of turning things around, and I thought Mitt Romney.
Mitt Romney is a very widely known “family man.” Romney loves his family and believes that the family is the foundation of America and that it needs to be protected and strengthened. He is a man of integrity. Romney has always wanted to know what was wrong and always offered and provided help. He believes in God and he believes that everyone on this earth is a child of God and that we are all brothers and sisters. He believes in being against abortion. Romney believes in lowering taxes. He believes that citizens should not be taxed when they earn their money, taxed when they save their money, and taxed when they die, giving citizens the ability to save their money tax free. He believes that the country needs to be taken out of socialism, (which Hilary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Edwards are for keeping in the Unites States) and replaced back with that of capitalism.
Romney realizes that the Unites States is undergoing some of the most critical times in history. He realizes that we are being attacked by Jihadists, we face tougher competitions than we have ever known before (coming from Asia), we are spending too much money here. He knows that it is our money the government is spending. He knows we are using too much oil here, our schools are failing too many of the countries students, our health care system is leaving some 45 million people behind. Romney knows this is not a time for “talk” or a time to “dawdle.” Romney knows this is a time for action.
Romney first gained national recognition for his role in turning around the 2002 Winter Olympics. With the 2002 Games mired in controversy and facing a financial crisis, Romney left behind a successful career as an entrepreneur to take over as President and CEO of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee. Romney erased a $379 million operating deficit, organized 23,000 volunteers just months after the September 11th attacks, leading to one of the most successful Olympics in our country's history. Governor Romney presided over a dramatic reversal of the state, Massachusetts, fortunes and a period of sustained economic expansion. Without raising taxes or increasing debt, Governor Romney balanced the budget every year of his administration, closing a nearly $3 billion budget gap inherited when he took office. By eliminating waste, improving the government, and enacting comprehensive economic reforms to stimulate growth in Massachusetts, Romney got the economy moving again and transformed deficits into surpluses. At the beginning of Governor Romney's term, Massachusetts was losing thousands of jobs every month. By the time he left office, the unemployment rate was lower, hundreds of companies had expanded or moved to Massachusetts and the state had added approximately 60,000 jobs from the low point of the recession. He took governmental failing societies and completely turned them around making them into higher more successful civilizations. Just by being able to do such “miracles,” it makes me think about how much more he can do for our country if he was elected President of the United States. Our country is a place where people can advance and build, a place where torches of society can be passed and flags showing our independence can be raised. This country is not about standing still, it is about the people creating and becoming their dreams. The job of our president is this, to lead America into the future, a better place. At this moment of promise and uncertainty, our country seeks a new kind of leader to meet a new generation of challenges. That man is Mitt Romney.
